To investigate the influence of Spanish philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955) on the development of Latin American philosoophy. Criticsim has as yet failed to attempt to evaluate Ortega's impact on the general cultural development of Latin America in terms of the anomaly of a great personal commitment to Argentina which provoked a simultaneous reaction of attraction and repulsion.
