The Life and Works of Giovanni Battista Pittoni

FAIN: RO-11743-73

Boston University (Boston, MA 02215-1390)
Alice F. Binion (Project Director: June 1973 to present)

To pursue an inquiry into the life, work, and times of the Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Pittoni (1687-1767). Of all the Venetian Rococo Masters, Pittoni is the one least studied, even though he exerted an influence comparable to that of Tiepolo on the art of their time. Important new documents will be brought to bear upon existing information in this project.
