A Field Investigation of Aspects of Serbian Traditional Oral Expression

To study various forms of Serbian traditional oral expression, such as the recitation of genealogies and the chanting of laments, teasing songs and "how-to" catalogs, in an attempt to discover underlying poetic structures. This is an interdisciplinary project that proposes to test the hypothesis that oral tradition composition ramifies throughout a culture.
