To support fieldwork for 1) detailed linguistic description of Airkara and Pawnee, two closely related American Indian languages, and 2) the collection of ethnographic and historical material on the Arikara. These languages have not been fully described and the Arikara is one of the most poorly documented of Plains tribes. Hence, the primary significance is to preserve these languages and as much of the culture history as possible.
