The Johns Hopkins Euphrates Expedition is excavating Tell el-Freyy, an ancient city-mound in the area to be flooded on completion of the dam being constructed by the Syrian Arab Republic at Tabqa on the Euphrates river. The project has been undertaken at the invitation of the Syrian government.
