This proposal seeks funds for Phase III of a project well underway in order to complete the preparation of a biography of Dorothy Whitney Straight Elmhirst and to utilize the skills and knowledge of the biographer to expand collections of source material located in the Department of Manuscripts and University Archives at Cornell University The theme of the biography is that changes in American culture come from both people who drive for power and those whose forte is primarily creative.
