German Exiles in the United States After 1933: A Survey of Their Papers in Libraries and in Private Hands

To continue work on a survey of the papers of German exiles in the United States after 1933. This project is an outgrowth of an earlier grant which did research on German Literature in Exile. The result of the present survey will he a comprehensive report encompassing more than 250 names of exiles and their organizations. The report will provide a much needed basic tool for German-American studies. The funds provide for two full-time researchers and related expenses. Additional funding is being provided by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Bonn, West Germany.
