For research and editing of a major documentary monograph on Black Mountain College, the source materials for which were collected under previous NEH grants. The book will contain an extensive critical essay accessing the significance of the college to the arts and education in the United States; documents defining the educational philosophy of the College; a documented chronology; a selected bibliography of work published by facility and students; photographs; and selected excerpts from over two hundred interviews.
