To assist the reciprocal exchange programs and related special grant activities of the International Research and Exchanges Board. These programs provide opportunities for faculty members and graduate students to study and to carry out overseas research in the humanities and related social sciences bearing on Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Yugoslavia and the USSR.
