To present in an interdisciplinary forum the results of research on the changing roles of women and children in prerevolutionary Russia including: the discovery and shifting perceptions of childhood as reflected in folklore, educational tracts, literature and art; the legal status of women and children, and; ritual surrounding childbirth and childrearing.
