Study of the Irish Literary Renaissance in the 1880s

To study the Irish Literary Renaissance which commenced in the 1880s and lasted 80-90 years. The grantee seeks aid to travel to Ireland and meet with Samuel Beckett, the last living monolith of this literary period. He seeks to determine the conditions under which two generations of Irish writers virtually created for their country a national literature.
