To conduct research on the effects on scholarship and higher education of the present politics of government grants; the growing cost of Federal regulations, and the impact of the government as regulator on what is broadly conceived as scholarly and academic freedom. The results will be discussed at a two day conference and post-conference papers and responses will be edited for distribution.
