The Drama of Denishawn Dance

The project will describe approximately 50 performances of the Denishawn Dances during the period 1925-28. Each description will emphasize the theatrical essence of the dance: its mood, music, sets, story, costume, lighting, ethnic background (if any), plus step-by-step construction of the dance when possible. Dance historians will be able to recreate these dances, using their own or Denishawn choreography. Factual information on dates of origin, first performances, choreographers, performers, composers, and anecdotes will be included.
