The Thomas A. Edison Papers is a major documentary editing project that is collecting, selecting, editing, and publishing the correspondence, laboratory notes, and other technical and business records of the nation's most creative and prolific inventor. During the period of the proposed grant, the arrangement, selection, and target preparation for Part V (1911-1920) of the six-part image (microfilm) edition will be completed; Vol. 5 (Jan. 1879-Mar.1881) of the 15-volume book edition will be published; Vol. 6 (Apr. 1881-Mar. 1883) will be edited and sent to press; and the editing of Vol. 7 (Apr. 1883-Oct.1884) will begin.
