Expansion of the WoolfOnline electronic edition of Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse (1927), with critical apparatus and contextual materials. (24 months)

WoolfOnline expands to the whole novel the pilot project that focused originally on the "Time Passes" section of To the Lighthouse, completed in 2008 and available at www.woolfonline.com. The project embodies a vision for electronic capabilities for textual and contextual documents, producing a "sandbox" work space for scholars and students to examine, juxtapose, and analyze textual documents, contextual materials (diaries, essays, newspapers, photographs, commentary, and scholarly work such as bibliographies and biographical materials) and to publish new critical commentary and offer new materials. Having proven the concept in the "Time Passes" pilot project, we now propose to expand the site to include the whole of To the Lighthouse, to add new textual and contextual materials, and to refine and expand the technical environment for the project.
