FAIN: RS-10051-75
Museum of the Fur Trade (Chadron, NE)
Charles E. Hanson (Project Director: August 1975 to present)
To identify with certainty the fur trader for whom the city of Chadron was named; to document his activities in the area; and to assemble all possible factual biographical data. Documentation of local fur trading activities will provide better continuity for the local history being taught in the public schools, improve the local understanding of past Indian-white race relations in the area and give greater depth to the historical activities being planned for the Bicentennial.
