FAIN: RT-10296-77

Academy of American Franciscan History (Washington, DC 20043-4440)
Finbar Kenneally (Project Director: April 1977 to present)

The Sacred Congregation "de Propaganda Fide" was established by Pope Gregory XV in 1622 to direct the mission work of the whole Catholic Church. Its archives are the richest Roman Source for the history of the Catholic Church in the United States until 1908 when the U.S. was declared "no longer mission territory." This project will calendarize all United States documents in the Propaganda Fide Archive up to 1908.
