Punched Decoration in Medieval Panel Painting

To analyze punched patterns on the gilded surfaces of medieval panel paintings in order to determine authorship, workshop affiliation, dating and authenticity of individual works heretofore only vaguely classified. Articles and photographic documentation will be prepared to supply information to museums and the public. Paintings in Florence, Southern Itlay, Sicily, Sardinia, Catalonia and Molloria will be examined.
