To develop a conference which will identify the strengths, weaknesses, and specific research needs of the field of religious studies. A summary report will be prepared for distribution to the 15,000 scholars now teaching and/or conducting research in religious studies in which recommendations will be made to remedy whatever deficiencies become most prominent.
