A Conference on The Phonograph and Our Musical Life

To present a conference consisting of scholarly papers and colloquia exploring the impact of the phonograph and subsequent developments in audio technology have had on the musical community—audiences, composers, performers, scholars and critics, and other media (from radio to hotel elevators). All sessions will be taped; it is hoped that a publishable manuscript and possibly one or more recordings will 'result.
