A two day interdisciplinary conference to examine the extent of Texas-German cultural survival. Strong German communities have existed in the state since 1836, despite threats to their culture, language, traditions and politics in times of war. Subjects of papers to be presented will include ethnicity, Texas-German culture, literature, language, folklore, history, art and architecture. Regional museums will display related artifacts. A strong response from the Texas-German population of the area is anticipated. Negotiations leading to publication of the conference papers are nearly complete.
