To hold a symposium on "The American Writer and the 1930s" a decade that has been neglected by literary critics and historians. A reappraisal by scholars, critics and writers will hopefully stimulate further study of the period. Papers presented will be published in book form, and video cassettes of the panels will be prepared for TV and classroom use. Three of the symposium speakers will arrive early for a three-day campus residency to encourage interaction with students and writers.
