To support an English translation of Gottlob Frege's lectures on logic based on notes taken by Rudolf Carnap.
Gottlob Frege is generally acknowledged to be the founder of modern logic, as well as being one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century, especially in the analytic tradition. Our project is to prepare and publish a volume of English translations of his classes on logic, University of Jena, 1911-14, based on recently discovered lecture notes by Rudolf Carnap, another central figure in 20th century philosophy. In a substantive introduction and annotations the significance of these notes for understanding not only the development of Frege's views, but also of Carnap's, and of the history of analytic philosophy and logic will be analyzed.
