Preparation for publication of three volumes of Native American oral history narratives. (12 months)

The project will transcribe, translate, and prepare for publication a collection of tape-recorded oral narratives of the Assiniboine Indians of the North American Plains. Recorded in the 1980s, this is the largest and most representative collection of narratives documenting the language and culture of this little-known tribe who live today on reservations and reserves in Montana and Saskatchewan.
