General operating support for state or territorial humanities council

To support public programs, through regrants to institutions and organizations, which relate the humanities and humanists to issues of broad public interest in Alabama. The theme, "Priority and Human Values in a Changing Alabama", reflects the concern of Alabama citizens for coping with the many changes in the state. The Committee will develop the program in the first year by using the state-wide public television system, by holding a series of conferences for humanists and the public, and by distributing brochures and newsletters.
