To support local humanities initiatives and state humanities council operations.
Nevada Humanities fosters cultural enrichment and connection for all Nevadans. By creating and supporting dynamic public programs that inspire engagement, we deepen a collective sense of place and belonging and encourage mutual understanding and empathy, which are the foundations of community and democracy. Founded in 1971, and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1975, Nevada Humanities is one of 56 independent state and territorial humanities councils affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities. Nevada Humanities performs the dual roles of conducting humanities programs of its own and regranting federal funds designated for this purpose to Nevada nonprofit organizations. Nevada Humanities programs are implemented statewide, in both rural and urban parts of the state, and its constituents are the residents of Nevada.
