To support local humanities initiatives and state humanities council operations.

Mass Humanities uses history, literature, philosophy and the other humanities disciplines to enhance civic life and enrich public discourse throughout the Commonwealth. We pursue our mission primarily, but by no means exclusively, by offering grants and services in support of community-based projects that bring the perspectives of history, literature, philosophy and the other humanities disciplines to bear on topics of interest and issues of concern to the people of our state. Mass Humanities seeks to fund and support projects that engage those whose contact with humanities programming is limited. Our vision is a robust public square where the humanities are valued both for themselves and for their ability to illuminate our common concerns and help us imagine a better world.
