To support local humanities initiatives and state humanities council operations.

In the past year, California Humanities developed a new strategic framework after analyzing information from a variety of constituents. In light of this new framework, we are in the process of creating a new suite of activities that will include both new and existing programs. Current regranting and direct delivery programs include: The California Documentary Project, which supports broad-reach film, radio, and interactive humanities-based media productions that enhance our understanding of California and its cultures, peoples, and histories. Community Stories supports public humanities projects that record and share, through a wide variety of products, little known stories and histories of significance about the California experience. Literature & Medicine is a nationally recognized humanities-based professional development program for health care workers, delivered through humanities expert-led reading-and- discussion groups held in clinical settings.
