General operating support for state or territorial humanities council

The Maine Humanities Council, a statewide non-profit organization, uses the humanities -- literature, history, philosophy, and culture -- as a tool for positive change in Maine communities. Our programs and grants encourage critical thinking and conversations across social, economic, and cultural boundaries. The MHC envisions the communities of Maine transformed by the power and pleasure of ideas. Principal programs include: Let's Talk About It, The World in Your Library, New Books New Readers, Literature & Medicine, Veterans Book Group, Winter Weekend, Literature & Public Life.
