Development of a 90-minute documentary film about the 1910 bombing of the Los Angeles Times building and the bombing's aftermath, including the trial of two union activists for murder and the trial of attorney Clarence Darrow for jury tampering.

This is a request for a scripting grant to develop and write a 90-minute documentary film script about one of the most important episodes of the Progressive Era: the 1910 bombing of the Los Angeles Times building in which 21 men died, the trial of suspects James B. and John J. McNamara, and then the trial of their attorney, Clarence Darrow, for jury tampering. The film's central character is the protean and paradoxical Darrow himself - part hero, part fraud, part myth, yet all too human.
