Development of a feature-length documentary film on the history and significance of Cuban jazz, its influence on American jazz, and its stylistic changes over time.

Oye Cuba! A Journey Home will be a feature length documentary exploring the dynamic ? and elemental role Cuba has played in the development of one of the worlds most celebrated musical styles ? jazz. We?ll go on a musical and personal journey to the island with Grammy Award winning jazz musician Arturo O?Farrill, the homeland of his father, the legendary jazz pioneer Chico O?Farrill, to learn first hand about the roots of the music handed down to him. Along the way we?ll unearth a more than a century-long musical dialogue that has left its mark on the music of Cuba and jazz and discover the new directions the music is being taken by today?s innovative young jazz musicians.
