ABSTRACT: Program to study and research to 1) review the history of the American film in order to assess its role in national life; 2) explore potential use of film as historical evidence; 3) learn basic film-making skills; and 4) become familiar with major film archives in US. Utilization of film materials as historical evidence offers new insights into US History and could bring fundamental changes to the teaching of that subject. Fellow to take courses in film history and communication at American University, fall 1970. Will spend 2 months at Library of Congress and Eastman House reviewing archival materials.
