Expansion of field trip and outreach programs in a seven-county area.

The Troy Historical Society (THS) will enhance the multicultural humanities content of its youth education programs; its capacity to provide these programs in the expanded facilities of the Troy Historic Village; and the delivery of History to You outreach programs to a larger, seven-county region where people of color comprise 21 percent of the population. THS will use restricted matching funds to provide its youth education programs without charge to economically challenged Title 1 classrooms. During the fundraising period of the grant THS will implement an aggressive membership campaign as one of its strategies and work to involve and retain new members as program participants, volunteers, and long-term donors. These efforts, combined with the expanded youth education programs will advance the Troy Historic Village as a History and Humanities Hub (H3); improve its fiscal sustainability; and provide the donor base and earned revenue resources to seed a permanent endowment fund.
