Minnesota Public Radio (St. Paul, MN 55101-2217)
Dave Kansas (Project Director: May 2016 to May 2024)
Paid interns in a three- to six-month program for college students or recent graduates and paid fellows in a nine-month program for early- or mid-career professionals of color.
MPR|APM aims to cultivate new media talent by providing opportunities
for diverse journalists, on-air hosts, and media producers to create high quality humanities content that will engage new
and underserved audiences with stories and programs that authentically reflect the whole of the American experience.
An NEH grant will be used to strengthen our efforts by funding organization-wide internships and fellowships for
promising, diverse candidates. Interns and fellows funded by this grant will work in news and information, music, and
cultural programs that are outlets for MPR|APM’s humanities content. From national shows like Performance Today,
The Writer’s Almanac, A Prairie Home Companion, and American RadioWorks, to regional programs like The Thread
and Art Hounds, to education initiatives like 31 Days of Classical and Learning to Listen, MPR engages hundreds of
thousands of people with history, culture, philosophy and ethics, and the history and criticism of the arts.
