FAIN: ZH-252973-17

Foxfire Fund, Inc. (Mountain City, GA 30562-0541)
Joseph Barry Stiles (Project Director: May 2016 to May 2024)

The enhancement of the Foxfire collection with technological improvements such as touch-screen displays and smart phone digital tours for the museum, plus an expanded website to offer an interactive experience and access to oral history records.

This project will expand and enhance the existing Foxfire heritage collection—archives, structures, and artifacts—with an interactive interpretive program, using new information and technology to transform what is now a largely passive museum collection and archives into an interactive, informative humanities experience. Our goal is to foster a lively and deep understanding and appreciation of Southern Appalachian history, culture, and heritage among the Southern Appalachian population itself and the wider American public, with special emphasis on opening the Foxfire experience to a new audience, particularly a new generation whose mode of experiencing and learning is through mobile devices and on-line interactive applications.
