Bosnia Memory Project at Fontbonne University

FAIN: ZH-252974-17

Fontbonne University (St. Louis, MO 63105-3098)
Benjamin Moore (Project Director: May 2016 to present)

Expansion of the Bosnia Memory Project to two additional high schools.

The grant will support the ongoing educational, outreach, and research activities of Fontbonne University's Bosnia Memory Project (BMP). Founded in 2007, the BMP is a humanities-based initiative dedicated to raising awareness about and establishing an enduring record of the experiences of Bosnian genocide survivors, especially those living in metropolitan St. Louis, which has the largest Bosnian refugee community in the world. The BMP is a critical resource for Bosnian refugees and their families, who face both economic and social challenges. Central to the BMP's undertakings will be dual-credit courses at area high schools with significant Bosnian-American populations; these courses will allow youth- many from economically challenged families- to participate directly in the BMP's research and preservation activities. The BMP has grown organically out of Fontbonne, a university with strong humanistic mission dedicated to robust engagement with its local community.
