The expansion of Odyssey Junior, a humanities
program directed at low-income youth of color in and around Madison, WI.
This proposal expands Odyssey Junior, an innovative pilot program for 55 children and grandchildren of Odyssey students. Odyssey Junior engages all three of NEH’s target groups: our participants are children ages 2-18, all of whom live near the poverty level and approximately 95% of whom are from racial and ethnic minority groups (predominantly African-American). Odyssey Junior’s primary goal is to create a pipeline to college for economically disadvantaged children through a humanities-based program of self-discovery and expression.
