The creation of a Collections Corps program that focuses on collection stewardship activities, such as cataloging, archival administration, and historic preservation.
The Charles H Wright Museum of African American History established
its Culture Corps program 5 years ago. The Wright has provided paid, early career learning opportunities for people of
color. By doing so the Wright is cultivating professionals for arts and culture who will be prepared for careers in the
humanities. With enhanced funding, we will expand on the Culture Corps program and add the Collection Corps as a
specialty component. The Collections Corps program will include the core aspects of the existing Culture Corps program
but will be focused on serving a vital need for The Wright's expansion of its collections staff. Specialized training in
archival administration or historic preservation will be provided to college students and graduates with clear career
aspirations in the museum field.
