HCWDC will examine the concepts of Freedom, Rights and Responsibilities of citizenship using historical and contemporary texts as basis for discussion. Programs include: an EMANCIPATION DAY event; SOUL OF THE CITY, a leadership development institute for high school students that looks at the selected concepts as they relate to local communities through the filter of History, Ethics, Public Spaces and Literature; and our HUMANITIES PROFILED educational television series that reach 200,000 households in DC.
