Nevada Humanities requests We the People funding to support four programs in our FY 2010 program initiatives. These programs include: Humanities on the Road, a speakers' bureau that sends Nevadas college professors, writers, and other scholars throughout the state to provide Nevada's diverse communities with presentations and workshops on a variety of humanities subjects that include history, culture, and contemporary issues of importance to Nevadans; Hometown Nevada, a Nevada Humanities council conducted local history project that will bring Nevada Humanities staff and scholars to rural towns around the state to conduct a series of programs that will inspire and teach residents to document personal and community histories; the creation of written and media content for the Online Nevada Encyclopedia on the history of, and issues relating to, culture and environment in Nevada; and the American and Nevada history component of Nevada Humanities' ongoing regrant program. |
