Through a six-month, $5,000 Preservation Assistance Grant for Smaller Institutions, the Museo de Arte de Caguas (Caguas Art Museum) will contract an experienced preservation consultant to perform a general assessment of its collection, infrastructure/physical envelope, exhibit areas, lighting, humidity and temperature conditions. The consultant will also define essential storage standards to identify a suitable location for these purposes. The assessment and the consultant's recommendations will lead to an action plan with priorities for implementation, with three basic levels of action: immediate/urgent remedial actions to prevent conservation, preservation risks that may endanger the collection; mid-range strategies to maximize exhibit space, and to articulate infrastructure improvements, equipment needs and other capital investments to be included in the applicant's five-year strategic plan; and safety safeguards for the Museum. |
